STATEHOUSE — State Representative Cindy Ziemke (R-Batesville) was honored with the Small Business Champion Award by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce on Nov. 17 for her hard work and dedication to improving Indiana’s small business community.

“I am humbled to be recognized by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce as a Small Business Champion Award recipient,” said Rep. Ziemke. “As lawmakers, we must do our part to promote legislation that allows small businesses to grow in Indiana.”

Rep. Ziemke was one of five legislators to receive this award at the Chamber’s 2015 Central Indiana Legislative Preview which featured a panel discussion by General Assembly caucus leaders on what issues to expect during the upcoming session.

“By supporting small businesses, we are also fostering our local economies through job creation and economic development while encouraging a spirit of entrepreneurism,” said Rep. Ziemke. “I am grateful to receive this award and will continue to advocate for small business owners throughout the 2015 legislative session.”

The Small Business Champion awards have been given annually since 1993. The award was based on voting and advocacy during the 2014 legislative session.

Rep. Ziemke (R-Batesville) represents portions of Rush, Fayette, Franklin, Ripley and Decatur counties.
