STATEHOUSE- Rep. Tom Saunders (R-Lewisville) invites interested citizens to take part in his Adult Page Day on Monday, March 21. The Adult Page Day provides an opportunity to see the lawmaking process firsthand and spend the day with Rep. Saunders.
|Start Date: ||2/11/2011|| All Day|
|End Date: ||2/11/2011|
"Adults can have the same learning experience as students at the Statehouse," Rep. Saunders said. "It is a great opportunity to see how their state government works-up close and personal."
As part of the day, pages will receive a tour the Statehouse, including the governor's office, the House and Senate chambers and the Indiana Supreme Court.
"Adult pages will view the legislative session from the floor of the House of Representatives, and may attend committee meetings as well," said Rep. Saunders. "With politics and government being a part of so many people's afternoon conversation, it would be exciting to come and watch it live."
Participants are given the opportunity to talk with representatives about concerns over state issues during lunch and at various times throughout the day.
Many young people experience the legislative process as pages through the years. The Adult Page Day gives adult citizens the same chance to participate.
Openings are now available, but will fill up fast. If you are an interested adult resident from District 54, contact Rep. Saunders' legislative assistant, Alecia Nafziger, at 317-232-9677 or e-mail Rep. Saunders at firstname.lastname@example.org.
