[r54] Rep. Saunders Welcomes Students, Adult Pages to Statehouse (2/19/2008)

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

Start Date: 2/19/2008 All Day
End Date: 2/19/2008
Rep. Tom Saunders (R-Lewisville) welcomed a group of students and five adult pages to the Indiana Statehouse today. Approximately 50 fourth-grade students were visiting from Blue River Valley Elementary in Mount Summit. Students were given an opportunity to sit in the House chambers and participate in a question and answer session with Rep. Saunders.

Shortly after visiting with the students, Rep. Saunders began his Adult Page Day. The day is an opportunity for interested citizens to spend time with Rep. Saunders and view live House sessions and committee hearings. As a page, participants are given a tour of Indiana's Statehouse. Some important landmarks of the tour include a visit to the governor's office, the chambers of both the Indiana House and Senate and the Indiana Supreme Court.

"I am so excited to host this day for the adult pages," said Rep. Saunders. "It was very rewarding to hear the questions and concerns of my constituents as they visited this historic Indiana building and saw the legislative process firsthand."

In addition to the tour, adult pages attended the day's House session and a committee hearing. They also participated in a lunch with Rep. Saunders.

Rep. Saunders encourages constituents to contact him with questions or concerns through e-mail at h54@iga.in.gov, by calling the Statehouse toll-free at 1-800-382-9841 or by writing him at the Statehouse at 200 W. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46204.
