Last Friday, a large group of junior and senior students from Knightstown High School visited the Indiana Statehouse on a field trip. Rep. Tom Saunders visited with the students to discuss important issues relating to this year's legislative session.
"It is always a memorable moment when students visit the Statehouse," said Rep. Saunders. "I look forward to conversations with students and teachers alike, as I am eager to hear their concerns and to answer any questions they might have."
While the group was in the Statehouse they were able to get a firsthand view on how the legislative process operates. Rep. Saunders met with the students in the Supreme Court Chamber to give students an overview of the session's final day. Along with a tour of one of Indiana's most historic buildings, the students also took a picture on the Statehouse steps with Rep. Saunders.
"It was especially memorable for the students to be here on sine die and they had the chance of seeing session come to an end," Rep. Saunders said. "Students saw just how hectic the lawmaking process gets when it's in full-swing. I hope to see more schools at the Statehouse when lawmakers return next winter."
Rep. Saunders encourages constituents to contact him with questions or concerns through e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org, by calling the Statehouse toll-free at 1-800-382-9841 or by writing him at the Statehouse, 200 W. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46204.
