STATEHOUSE-State Representative Dick Dodge (R-Pleasant Lake) praised Solar Usage Now for announcing plans today to expand its northeast Indiana operations  in Steuben County, creating at least 35 new jobs.

Solar Usage Now is a designer, assembler and distributor of solar thermal hot water and space heating systems. The company plans to invest $620,000 to lease and equip a 22,500 square-foot manufacturing, storage and office facility in Hamilton, Ind.

"This development makes me very optimistic about job growth and expansion in Steuben County," said Rep. Dodge. "The legislation that we enacted this year will hopefully continue to encourage more businesses like Solar Usage Now to develop and expand in our community."

Some of the House bills that pertained to economic development in Indiana during this past legislative session:

House Enrolled Act (HEA) 1004 increases access to start-up capital for Indiana businesses, in addition to lowering the corporate income tax rate; HEA 1006 promotes economic development locally and regionally; and HEA 1007 allows enhanced abatement schedules and hiring incentives to encourage local job growth.

"It's amazing to see such  positive results from the legislation that was passed this session" said Rep. Dodge. "We worked hard to craft bills that would stimulate job growth in our state and I am glad to know 35 new jobs will be coming to Steuben County."
