STATEHOUSE — State Representative Denny Zent (R-Angola) encourages local students to apply for the Indiana House Page Program. The program offers students ages 13 to 18 the opportunity to visit the Statehouse and witness a full day of legislative activity.
“The House Page Program is an excellent way for young people, who are interested in the political process, to get an up close look at the state legislature,” said Rep. Zent. “This is a unique experience for all students. Students will truly see how General Assembly operates.”
Pages will be given a wonderful tour experience of the governor's office, the chambers of the Indiana House and Senate and the Indiana Supreme Court. Along with watching floor sessions and committee meetings Pages will get the opportunity to personally help members of our legislative staff.
Students who serve as pages will be excused from school for the day. Pages are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Statehouse.
Spots fill up rapidly, so interested students are encouraged to schedule their visit as soon as possible. Students are asked to include two different dates when they can come to the Statehouse between January and April. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays are the best days to serve because that is when the House is in session. There are no pages on Fridays. To sign up, visit www.in.gov/legislative/house_republicans/off_cms/page or call 1-800-382-9841.
