STATEHOUSE – State Representative Wes Culver (R-Goshen) will be speaking at the memorial headstone dedication for Cpl. Mark L. Wilt on Sunday along with State Senator Carlin Yoder (R-Middlebury) and U.S. Representative Jackie Walorski sponsored by the American Legion Mark L. Wilt Post 210.

The ceremony is open to the public and is a precursor to Monday’s Memorial Day celebrations.

Immediately following the ceremony, the annual dusk to dawn vigil will begin.  Enter at the east entrance to receive information from veterans of American Legion Post 210 about veterans buried in Grace Lawn and the location of their markers.  At the west exit, Post 210 will be presenting American Flag pins as a thank you for touring Grace Lawn.

On Monday, Memorial Day celebrations start at 10 a.m. with the Northridge Band and veterans from Post 210 marching from Middlebury Elementary to Memorial Park.  After a short ceremony, they will continue to the bridge over the Little Elkhart River, firing several shots to honor those lost at sea.  They will finish at Grace Lawn Cemetery where the names of 784 area veterans who have passed away will be read, along with a reading about Cpl. Mark Wilt. Lunch will follow for anyone interested at the American Legion Post 210 on York Drive.
