STATEHOUSE — State Rep. Wes Culver (R-Goshen) invites local students to apply for the 2014 Indiana House Page Program. The program offers students 13 to 18 years old the chance to visit the Statehouse and see a full day of legislative activity.
“The House Page Program is a great opportunity for students to experience first-hand how the state legislature works,” said Rep. Culver. “I look forward to meeting the pages during the upcoming session and sharing with them as much as I can about our Hoosier state.”
Pages have the chance to witness floor sessions and committee meetings and help staff members with daily tasks. They also get to take tours of the capitol building to places such as the governor’s office, the chambers of the Indiana House and Senate and the Indiana Supreme Court.
Students who serve as pages are excused from school for the day. Pages are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Statehouse.
Pages can serve between the first week in January through March. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays are the best days to serve. There are no pages on Fridays.
Although the House Page Office will not formally open until December, interested individuals are encouraged to sign up early by calling Rep. Culver’s office at 317-232-9678 or emailing email@example.com.
State Rep. Wes Culver serves as Chairman of the Statutory Committee on Interstate and International Cooperation. He also serves as a member of the Commerce, Small Business and Economic Development Committee and the Children and Human Affairs Committee. Rep. Culver represents a portion of Elkhart County.
