Rep. Price congratulates Center Grove High School on academic success
STATEHOUSE – State Representative John Price (R-Greenwood) is pleased to congratulate Center Grove High School for being in the top 35 of schools in Indiana to achieve the goal of having 25 percent or more of its students pass Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
“The achievement of this success would not have been possible without the students, teachers, administration and parents of Center Grove and their hard work and dedication. I want to congratulate each and every one of them,” said Rep. Price.
Representatives of Center Grove were honored during the 5th annual Indiana Advanced Placement Access and Success Recognition Reception last week at the Indiana Statehouse. The event was sponsored by the College Board and recognized Indiana schools that had at least 25 percent of their graduates pass at least one AP exam or were the highest one-year growth schools.
Thirty-four schools across Indiana were awarded for achieving an AP course pass rate of 25 percent or more. Nine schools were recognized as “Highest Growth Schools”.
AP is a research backed method to facilitate student participation and success through the delivery of college-level courses and corresponding exams in the high school setting to qualified high school students. In 2009, when this event began, 12 schools were recognized for reaching the 25 percent mark.
“AP exams are very useful in preparing for college tests, and scoring well on them can have financial benefits to students,” said Rep. Price. “I am enthusiastic to see Center Grove, as well other high schools around Indiana, continue their outstanding AP test rates.”
