STATEHOUSE- House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced standing committee assignments today for the 119th General Assembly.  Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election.

State Rep. John Price (R-Greenwood) has been appointed Chairman of the Local Government Committee, which is responsible for dealing with matters that directly affect cities, towns and counties throughout Indiana. Rep. Price has also been selected to serve as a member of the Financial Institutions Committee and the Veterans and Public Safety Committee.

“I am honored to have been appointed as Chairman of Local Government and a member of Financial Institutions and Veterans and Public Safety committees,” said Rep. Price. “I look forward to working with my colleagues in these roles to move our community and state forward.”

Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.

“I am confident in the abilities of each of these leaders, and I know they are all eager to begin their work,” said Speaker Bosma.
