"I look forward to the responsibilities I will face while serving on each of these committees," said Rep. Steuerwald. "I am eager to begin working with legislators to prioritize legislation, listen to public testimony on key issues and study the effects on our communities before we vote to move these bills before the Indiana House."
Rep. Steuerwald was selected to serve as the state representative for District 40 by a caucus of the precinct committeepersons on August 18, 2007. District 40 is located in Hendricks County and includes the towns of Plainfield, Brownsburg and Avon.
The Indiana General Assembly is a part-time legislature and meets on a two-year cycle - four months one year and three months the following year. Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process in the House of Representatives. Committees with specific expertise work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
The upcoming 2008 legislative session will begin January 8, 2008. Rep. Steuerwald encourages local constituents to contact him with questions or concerns through email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by calling the Statehouse toll-free at 1-800-382-9841. It is also possible to write him at 200 W. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46204.
