(Statehouse) April 19, 2007- Representative Bill Davis (R-Portland) and Representative Tom Saunders (R-Lewisville) joined Governor Mitch Daniels, Winchester Mayor Steven Croyle, Executive Director of the Randolph Economic Development Corporation Greg Beumer, Randolph County Commissioners, and officials from the Tomasco Indiana LLC to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for a new auto supply parts plant in Winchester today. The new plant is an expansion of Tomasco, which will create 125 new jobs supplying auto parts to Honda. The project will establish three new product lines that will manufacture fuel filter pipes, instruments panel beams, and foot parking breaks. The company announced the expansion in February and is expected to complete construction by October of next year. "Tomasco has been involved in this community and has been a quality corporate partner in Randolph county for several years now," said Rep. Davis. "Today's ground breaking was another monumental step for the company, which has been committed to their employees and the Randolph county community. I am proud to have a company like Tomasco operating here." Over the past two years, House Republicans have developed incentives to bring jobs to Indiana. Tomasco is receiving $3 million in state and city incentives for the projects, two of which were recently developed and improved by Rep. Bill Davis and his colleagues. The Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) Credit, which was improved in 2005 and supported by Davis, will provide Tomasco with $600,000 over a period of 10 years. Tomasco also qualified for the Hoosiers Business Investment Tax credit, which was recently developed by House Republicans and supported by Davis and will provide them with $325,000.
