STATEHOUSE-Speaker Brian Bosma (R-Indianapolis) appointed Rep. Eric Turner (R-Marion) as Speaker Pro Tempore for the Indiana 117th General Assembly.

The Speaker Pro Tempore, meaning "temporary speaker," is selected by the majority caucus to fill the role of the presiding officer in the absence of the Speaker of the House.

"What an honor it is to be appointed to such position by the Speaker," said Rep. Turner today. "I am very appreciative and I am looking forward to severing our Speaker and our assembly to the best of my ability this upcoming session.

Rep. Turner was Speaker Pro Tem during the 114th General Assembly and Assistant Republican Leader from 2007 to 2010.

"Rep. Turner has been an exemplary leader in our Caucus for the past decade. He has served the people of Indiana with integrity for many years. I have every confidence that he will serve to his fullest potential as the Speaker Pro Tem for the Indiana House of Representatives," said Speaker Bosma.


Rep. Turner serves residents in House District 32, which includes Grant, Hamilton, Howard, Miami and Tipton Counties.
