Rep. Kevin Mahan (R-Hartford City) was appointed as Vice Chair of the House Government and Regulatory Reform Committee, and a member of the House Insurance Committee and the House Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee.
"It's such a huge honor to be appointed as Vice Chairman and member of these House Committees, and I appreciate Speaker Bosma giving me these appointments," said Rep. Mahan. "I am looking forward to getting started in January.
"As someone who has worked in law enforcement for 16 years, I am eager to finding ways we can further help our Hoosiers and Hoosier veterans.
"In addition, I enjoy working in the insurance industry and feel that I can contribute to the discussion surrounding those issues in order to help solve some of the problems Indiana insurance holders are currently facing."
Committee chairmen and caucus leaders are selected biennially by the majority party after each election year.
Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
