STATEHOUSE- House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced standing committee assignments for the 119th General Assembly.  Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election.

State Representative Donna Schaibley (R-Carmel) was appointed to serve on three committees:

  • Environmental Affairs
  • Financial Institutions
  • Statutory Committee on Interstate and International Cooperation

“With just days left before the start of the 2015 legislative session, I am eager to get to work in these important committees,” said Rep. Schaibley. “As the voice of House District 24, I look forward to listening to input from Hoosiers and working with my colleagues to contribute to the betterment of our community and state.”

Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.

“I firmly believe that committees are the workhorses of the institution. I look forward to being a part of a new generation of leaders as they shepherd important bills through our legislative process,” said Speaker Bosma.

The 2015 legislative session begins on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 1:30pm.
