INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 4, 2016) – State Rep. John Price (R-Bargersville) is reaching out to Hoosier students to apply for the Indiana House Page Program.

Students 13 to 18 years old are offered the chance to visit the Statehouse and participate in a full day of legislative activity. In addition to visiting the Statehouse, pages have the opportunity to tour locations like the governor’s office, the Indiana Supreme Court, and the House and Senate chambers. Pages also have an opportunity to observe the legislative session as well as help staff members.

“Visiting the Statehouse and discovering more about the legislative and political process that occurs here on a daily basis is a phenomenal experience,” Price said. “The page program presents a very unique opportunity by allowing young individuals to interact with representatives and experienced staff members. This is a tremendous opportunity that we take a great deal of pride in and would strongly encourage students to explore.”

Price said students who are interested in the page program are encouraged to schedule their visit as soon as possible. Students who serve as pages are excused from school for the day and are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Statehouse. Session starts Jan. 5, and runs through the second week of March. Recommended days to serve include Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays when the House is in session.
