STATEHOUSE (July 6, 2017) — State Rep. Dave Ober (R-Albion) was recently selected to serve as vice chair of the Interim Study Committee on Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications.

He said the committee will examine assigned topics, gather testimonies and recommend potential legislation for the 2018 legislative session.

“The committee will be studying several exciting topics including self-generation of electricity by school corporations,” Ober said. “We will also be researching wind power devices, rental rates on utility poles and broadband in rural areas. There are many new technologies that spur changes in state law, and the summer is a great opportunity to prepare for possible policy changes.”

Ober said interim study committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas. Members of the public are welcomed to attend and testify.
