STATEHOUSE (Feb. 7, 2017) – State Rep. Dave Ober (R-Albion) today at the Statehouse recognized the 2016 winners of the Miss Indiana and the Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen pageants with a House resolution.

Ober authored the measure recognizing Miss Indiana, Brianna DeCamp, and Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen, Jordan Axel, both of Kendallville, who were crowned in June 2016.

“Both Miss DeCamp and Miss Axel are incredibly bright,” Ober said. “They represent some of the very best of our community’s talent, heart and potential. It is great to see two young women from our area be chosen to represent Indiana.”

DeCamp, 22, was selected out of 34 Miss Indiana contestants while Axel, 18, was chosen out of 27 Outstanding Teen contestants from across the state. Both women represented the state of Indiana in the 2016 Miss America Competition and Miss America Outstanding Teen Competition, respectively.

DeCamp recently graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Education in Special Education. Axel is a student at East Noble High School and will attend the University of Alabama this fall.

“I look forward to seeing them continue to grow and accomplish more great things ahead of them,” Ober said.

The Miss Indiana Scholarship Pageant, established in 1927, awards more than $45,000 in scholarships every year.

State Rep. Ober represents all of Noble County and portions

of Allen, Elkhart, LaGrange and Whitley counties.
