STATEHOUSE (June 23, 2016) — State Rep. Sharon Negele (R-Attica) will serve on the Interim Study Committee on Government.
In preparation for the 2017 legislative session, which begins in January, interim study committee members meet to examine assigned topics, gather testimonies and identify potential legislation.
“In 2015, I championed legislation addressing involuntary annexation throughout the state,” Negele said. “This law helps to make the annexation process more transparent by fostering communication between municipalities and landowners, while also making remonstration less burdensome. As a member of this committee, I will conduct an in-depth study of the effects of these recent changes and determine if we need to make further recommendations to the General Assembly.”
Negele said interim study committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas. Members of the public are also welcome to attend.
Negele will also serve on the Commission on Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises and the Midwest Passenger Rail Compact Commission.
State Rep. Sharon Negele (R-Attica) represents all of Benton County, and portions of Fountain, Jasper, Montgomery, Newton, Tippecanoe, Warren and White counties.
