STATEHOUSE (Dec. 19, 2016) — State Rep. Sharon Negele (R-Attica) was recently selected to serve as vice chair of the House Committee on Courts and Criminal Code.
She was also named to the House Committee on Ways and Means. In addition to her committee assignments, Negele serves as Assistant Majority Whip for the caucus.
“Every session, legislative committees meet to gather public testimony, hear from industry experts and collaborate with other lawmakers to discuss proposed legislation,” Negele said. “As vice chair of the Courts and Criminal Code committee, I’ll work to address some of the public safety concerns facing Indiana as we continue to improve the criminal justice system. I’m also excited to join my colleagues in crafting the state’s two-year budget, where our top priority will be to develop a long-term, sustainable road funding plan while remaining committed to living within the state’s means.”
Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election. On Jan. 4, House lawmakers will convene at 1:30 p.m. in the House Chamber for the first day of the 2017 legislative session.
