Negele: Lawmakers reflect on 100 years of women’s suffrage

Indiana was the 26th state to ratify the amendment, which was officially adopted on Aug. 26, 1920. Lawmakers and guests from many backgrounds and generations celebrated the occasion with a special a presentation on the House floor. In 2019, Negele authored a law creating the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission to organize celebrations throughout the 100th anniversary year.


State Rep. Sharon Negele (R-Attica) represents House District 13, which includes all of Benton County, 
and portions of Fountain, Jasper, Montgomery, Newton, Tippecanoe, Warren and White counties.
