INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 5, 2016) – State Rep. Alan Morrison (R-Terre Haute) is encouraging Hoosier students to apply for the Indiana House Page Program.
Students 13 to 18 years old are offered the chance to visit the Statehouse and see a full day of legislative activity. In addition to visiting the Statehouse, pages have the opportunity to tour locations like the governor’s office, the Indiana Supreme Court, and the House and Senate chambers. Pages also have an opportunity to observe the legislative session as well as help staff members.
“I highly recommend students participate in this unique opportunity. The House Page Program provides students with an exciting chance to visit the Statehouse and see firsthand how the legislative process works,” Morrison said. “I look forward to meeting all of the pages from my district this session.”
Morrison said students who are interested in the page program are encouraged to schedule their visit as soon as possible. Students who serve as pages are excused from school for the day and are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Statehouse. Session starts Jan. 5, and runs through the second week of March. Recommended days to serve include Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays when the House is in session.
