Mahan: Local farms receive distinguished award
STATEHOUSE (March 28, 2016) — State Rep. Kevin Mahan (R-Hartford City) congratulates the following farms for their designation as Hoosier Homestead Award recipients and more than 100 years of family farm ownership:
“With 190,000 jobs, the Hoosier agriculture industry contributes more than $44.1 billion to our state’s economy,” Mahan said. “I am impressed with the commitment of the Maddox Farms to invest in Hoosier agriculture for more than a century. This award recognizes their hard work and dedication.”
The Hoosier Homestead Award Program recognizes farms that have been owned and maintained by the same family for 100 years or more.
Two awards ceremonies are held each year, in the spring and summer, to commemorate the achievements of farmers across the state. For more information on the Hoosier Homestead Award Program, visit www.in.gov/isda/2337.htm.
Rep. Mahan represents portions of Blackford, Delaware, Grant and Wells counties.
