STATEHOUSE (Feb. 15, 2018) — State Reps. Jerry Torr (R-Carmel) and Donna Schaibley (R-Carmel) on Tuesday at the Statehouse honored the Carmel High School Band for winning the 2017 Bands of America Grand National Championships.

The Carmel High School Marching Greyhounds were 1 of 50 bands from throughout the country competing for the title. This was Carmel’s third national championship.

“Congratulations to the Marching Greyhounds for being victorious at the Bands of America Championship for the second year in a row,” Torr said. “These students have demonstrated a great deal of dedication and teamwork to put on an award-winning performance, and it’s exciting to celebrate their success at the Statehouse.”

The Marching Greyhounds also won awards in three other categories, including Outstanding Musical Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance and Outstanding General Effect.

“It is great to see our students succeeding in extracurricular activities,” Schaibley said. “Their hard work is being rewarded thanks to their determination and the immense support of their parents and teachers.”
