STATEHOUSE (Feb. 23, 2017) – A local graduate is  gaining experience as an intern with State Rep. Donna Schaibley (R-Carmel) and her fellow members of the House of Representatives during the 2017 legislative session.

Allison Vanatsky, a resident of Zionsville, is the daughter of Lori Vanatsky. A Zionsville High School graduate, Vanatsky is currently a senior at Indiana University working on a bachelor’s degree in public relations and journalism.

As an intern in the House Majority Communications Office, Vanatsky helps write press releases, create legislative handouts and set up press conferences.

The House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of each legislative session.

“Interns are great assets during the busy legislative session,” Schaibley said. “These young individuals put in work from late December to early May. We really want to help our interns gain valuable skills to help prepare them for the workforce.”
