STATEHOUSE – State Representative Dave Ober (R-Albion) is pleased to announce that Holland Elementary School Principal Mike Caywood has been named Elementary Principal of the year by the Indiana Association of School Principals.
“We need more educators like Mike,” said Rep. Ober. “His dedication to ensuring that his students all have the best opportunity to learn, grow and succeed is what helps them leave school with an education that will take them wherever they want to go.”
Caywood has been a principal for 33 years. He is a strong advocate of public education, working hard to ensure that his students have the best opportunities to succeed.
“I am honored to have been selected by my peers to represent all of the great elementary principals both here in FWCS and across the state of Indiana,” Principal Caywood said.
As a Vietnam veteran, Caywood has compassion for those who serve in our armed forces and encourages students to participate in activities, service work and programs that honor our soldiers. He recently received the National Association of Elementary School Principals Sharing the Dream Grant and used the funds to teach students about the sacrifices our service men and women make for our country.
“Mike’s peers cite his love of learning as one of the main reasons he has been such an effective educator and administrator,” Rep. Ober said. “Passing that kind of passion on to students creates life-long learners who grow into healthy, happy productive members of society.”
Rep. Ober represents all of Noble County and portion of Allen, Elkhart, LaGrange and Whitley counties.
