STATEHOUSE (May 15, 2018) – The Legislative Council today assigned topics for the General Assembly to study during the legislative interim.
The council includes eight members of the Indiana House of Representatives and eight members of the Indiana Senate. This year, House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) serves as chair and Senate President Pro Tem David Long (R-Fort Wayne) serves as vice-chair.
“The interim provides legislators an opportunity to thoroughly vet issues and determine whether to pursue legislation next session,” Bosma said. “Summer study committees play an integral role in our part-time legislature and help pave the way for lawmakers to address a wide range of issues when we convene again in January.”
Committees will meet during the summer and fall months in preparation for the 2019 legislative session. Bosma said House and Senate leaders will assign members to each study committee in the coming weeks.
