STATEHOUSE (Feb. 22, 2018) — State Rep. Cindy Kirchhofer (R-Beech Grove) honored the Warren Central High School Winter Guard on Thursday for their victory at the Winter Guard International Japan Regional Championship.
The Warren Central High School Winter Guard competed as U.S. Ambassadors for Winter Guard International Sport of the Arts against 50 other color guards from Asia, and finished first. The team was the first U.S. group to attend a Winter Guard International event held in Asia.
“It’s so incredible to see students from our community compete at an international level, and then go on to place first,” Kirchhofer said. “After months of hard work and dedication, this team is truly deserving of this award. Being the first U.S. team to compete in this competition is a great accomplishment, and our community is definitely proud of this group of students.”
Kirchhofer said Warren Central is one of the most-traveled guards in the country, attending competitions in Florida, Nevada and New Jersey within the past five years.
