STATEHOUSE (Dec. 10, 2018) – State Rep. Cindy Kirchhofer (R-Beech Grove) was recently reappointed to chair the House Public Health Committee.
“Over the last several years, we made great progress fighting the opioid epidemic,” Kirchhofer said. “Just last session, we made it easier for those struggling with addiction to access treatment. Moving forward, we will continue working to make Indiana a healthier state and ensure Hoosiers have better access to the health care services they need.”
In addition to combating the opioid epidemic, Kirchhofer also led efforts to lower Indiana’s infant and maternal mortality rates. During session, Kirchhofer said she plans to support legislation focused on connecting women with high-risk pregnancies to additional medical resources before, during and after the birth.
Kirchhofer was also reappointed to serve on the House Courts and Criminal Code Committee, and the House Insurance Committee.
Kirchhofer currently is the risk manager for a local hospital and has a paralegal certificate.
Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election. On Jan. 3, House lawmakers will convene at 1:30 p.m. in the House Chamber for the first day of the 2019 legislative session.
