STATEHOUSE (July 6, 2017) — State Rep. Jeff Ellington (R-Bloomington) was recently selected to serve on the Military Base Planning Council.

The committee will examine assigned topics, gather testimonies and recommend potential legislation for the 2018 legislative session.

“The Military Base Planning Council was created to enhance Indiana’s potential for more military installations,” Ellington said. “The group also works to address any issues between bases and local communities, while identifying opportunities for collaboration between state government and the defense industry.”

The Naval Surface Warfare Center – Crane Division is located in Martin County and is in House District 62, which is represented by Ellington.

Ellington said interim study committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas. Members of the public are welcomed to attend and testify.
