STATEHOUSE (April 28, 2017) – State Rep. Wes Culver’s (R-Goshen) legislation creating the Indiana Bicycle Trail Task Force was recently signed into law by Gov. Eric Holcomb.

According to Culver, the task force will develop at least six actionable concepts to connect existing bicycle trails throughout the state and determine how to best fund each proposal, while also recommending how to increase bicycle safety on trails and roadways.

“Bicycle trails provide valuable wellness and recreational opportunities for both local communities and tourists,” Culver said. “This new law will help the state coordinate future bicycle trail efforts and encourage people to get out and safely experience Indiana’s natural beauty.”

The task force will be comprised of volunteers appointed by the governor. These volunteers will develop proposals over the next two years, and then present a final report of its proposed concepts to the legislative council and executive branch.
