STATEHOUSE (July 6, 2017) — State Rep. Bob Cherry (R-Greenfield) was recently named to four summer study committees, which examine assigned topics, gather testimonies and recommend potential legislation.
Cherry is assigned to the Interim Study Committee on Fiscal Policy, the Interim Study Committee on Government the State Fair Advisory Committee as the vice chair and the Budget Committee as an alternate.
“Even though Indiana has a part-time legislature, state representatives and senators work year-round for their communities,” Cherry said. “Study committees allow us to take a serious look at issues that concern Indiana. This year, the Interim Study Committee on Fiscal Policy will be studying various tax reforms, looking to find ways to further eliminate unnecessary burdens on everyday Hoosiers. Already, Indiana’s business climate has been recognized as one of the best in the nation due to our low taxes.”
Cherry said interim study committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas. Members of the public are welcomed to attend and testify.
Rep. Cherry represents House District 53,
which includes portions of Hancock and Madison counties.
