Cherry: Madison County farm receives distinguished award
STATEHOUSE (March 28, 2016) — State Rep. Bob Cherry (R-Greenfield) congratulates the Justice Farm from Madison County for their designation as a Hoosier Homestead Award recipient and 150 years of family farm ownership.
“The Hoosier agriculture industry contributes more than $44.1 billion to our economy and supports 190,000 jobs,” Cherry said. “The commitment of the Justice Farm to support our local and state economy is outstanding. I am proud to represent a farm with strong ties to our community.”
The Hoosier Homestead Award Program recognizes farms that have been owned and maintained by the same family for 100 years or more. The Justice Farm has been in operation since 1834.
Two awards ceremonies are held each year, in the spring and summer, to commemorate the achievements of farmers across the state. For more information on the Hoosier Homestead Award Program, visit www.in.gov/isda/2337.htm.
