Note to the Press: Please include the following statement from House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) in your coverage of the U.S. Department of Labor granting a waiver to Indiana to operate the Governor’s Workforce Cabinet, which was established this year under Senate Enrolled Act 50. The new cabinet replaces the State Workforce Innovation Council, and aims to assess and realign efforts to improve Indiana’s workforce development system.
STATEHOUSE (June 11, 2018) – “Business and technology are changing, and that’s why our workforce and training need to be aligned – especially if we want to continue to compete in this global economy. Today’s federal waiver announcement is exciting news as the Governor’s Workforce Cabinet is a critical piece of Indiana’s comprehensive approach to streamlining and improving our state’s workforce development system. From increasing coordination between job creators and state government to aligning Indiana’s education and job training programs, we face big challenges, and I’m confident we are moving in the right direction.”
