Note to the Press: Please include the following statement from House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) in your coverage of the Indiana State Department of Health’s annual abortion report showing a decline in the number of abortions for the eighth consecutive year:
STATEHOUSE (July 6, 2017) – “While one life lost is one too many, it’s encouraging to see the number of abortions significantly drop again and trend downward as we strive to give a voice to the unborn. Since Republicans took over the majority in the Indiana House of Representatives in 2011, the state’s abortion rate has dropped by nearly 30 percent. There’s still more work to be done and we remain committed to supporting strong pro-life policies that promote health and empower women to choose life.”
According to the ISDH report, Indiana’s rate dropped by 8.5 percent from 2015 to 2016. Click here for a copy of the Indiana State Department of Health’s 2016 Terminated Pregnancy Report.
