STATEHOUSE (July 6, 2017) ― House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) released the 2017 interim committee assignments today for members of the Indiana House of Representatives.
Indiana’s part-time legislature continues its work throughout the summer and fall months while lawmakers are not in session. Members are selected to serve on interim committees, which review the state’s top issues, gather public testimony and recommend potential legislation.
“Many new laws get their start from ideas and discussions generated during our summer study committees, which conduct deep dives on our state’s top policy issues,” Bosma said. “Lawmakers collaborate with members of the public and industry experts to identify and evaluate possible legislative solutions to be introduced next session.”
Many interim committees will begin meeting in July with a majority of their work concluded by the end of October. The list of 2017 legislative interim study committee assignments can be found here.
