Note to the Press - Please include the following statement from House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) in your coverage of the Legislative Council directing the Interim Committee on the Courts and the Judiciary to study issues related to the Child Welfare Policy and Practice Group's report on the Indiana Department of Child Services:

STATEHOUSE (July 2, 2018) - "Several of the recommendations made by the Child Welfare Policy and Practice Group regarding the Department of Child Services may require substantive changes to state law. That's why we assigned a number of these topics to the Interim Committee on the Courts and the Judiciary, where they can be fully vetted and lawmakers can bring sound policy recommendations to the table next session. Improving the state's child welfare system requires a comprehensive approach, and we remain fully committed to improving outcomes for these vulnerable children."

Bosma serves as chair of the Legislative Council, which met on Monday to formally review the Child Welfare Policy and Practice Group's assessment. Click here for a link to the council's resolution assigning various topics related to DCS to the  Interim Committee on the Courts and the Judiciary.
