STATEHOUSE (Jan. 14, 2019) — House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) will host the sixth annual “Tweet Seats” during Gov. Eric Holcomb’s State of the State address on Tuesday.

“Government is a team sport and Tweet Seats is a way to engage constituents with their state government and encourage transparency,” Bosma said. “Social media has the ability to connect people from across the state, and we encourage Hoosiers to follow the conversation on Twitter and weigh in with their thoughts and opinions.”

Each year, Bosma invites prominent community members and organization leaders to the Statehouse to provide live commentary via Twitter during the governor’s annual address.

The State of the State address is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the House Chamber on Tuesday.

This year’s Tweet Seat participants include:

  • Tamara Markey, 2019 Indiana Teacher of the Year, pre-engineering teacher at McKenzie Center for Innovation & Technology (@MarkeyTamara);
  • Susan Solmon, divisional social services director of the Indiana Division of The Salvation Army (@SAIndiana);
  • Chelsea Schneider, AIM municipal innovations specialist (@AimIndiana); and
  • Dr. Byron Ernest, member of the State Board of Education and director of educator development and partnerships for Noble Education Initiative, Inc. (@ByronErnest).

House Republicans and Tweet Seat participants will be using #INlegis and #INSOTS during the event, which will be streamed live at iga.in.gov. House Republicans use their Twitter account to provide legislative updates to their followers, including vote summaries, legislative updates and public events.
