STATEHOUSE (Nov. 29, 2018) – House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) released appointments today for House standing committee chairmanships, leadership positions and select, key committees for the 121st General Assembly.
“House Republicans have an outstanding team of leaders who are ready to roll up their sleeves and hit the ground running this legislative session,” Bosma said. “The work of our committees is often understated, but their roles are critical to the process as they carefully vet bills and dig in on the issues.”
In all, there are eight committee chairmanship and six leadership changes, due in large part to the number of House Republican retirements this year.
Bosma reappointed State Rep. Tim Brown (R-Crawfordsville) to chair Ways and Means, and selected State Rep. Todd Huston (R-Fishers) to serve as co-chair while Brown continues his recovery from a serious motorcycle crash.
“With a tough budget session ahead, we wanted to make sure Representative Brown has the support he needs and that’s why Representative Huston will join him as a co-chair of this critical committee. Todd is a well-respected member of our caucus and has a great command of the issues.”
The list of today’s appointments can be found online by clicking here. Bosma said he plans to announce the full standing committee assignment list in the coming weeks.
Bosma said committees provide members and the public an opportunity to consider and improve upon legislative proposals, which often impact local communities.
House lawmakers will convene at 1:30 p.m. in the House Chamber on Jan. 3 for the first day of the legislative session.
Indiana House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) represents House District 88,
