Providing Hoosier patients the "right to try"

I had the privilege of meeting Jordan McLinn, a young boy who is suffering from a life-threatening condition. Recently, his family came to the Statehouse and testified in favor of a bill I authored that would allow those with terminal illnesses or conditions like Jordan's access to possible resources that could help extend or save their life.

During the Public Health committee, my colleagues and I learned about a treatment option that could possibly extend Jordan's life. House Bill (HB) 1065 would provide patients diagnosed with terminal illnesses or conditions the right to try a medicine or treatment plan that has made it through the first stage of approval.

I was proud to author legislation that could help Jordan and many other Hoosiers receive access to life-saving treatments. HB 1065 passed out of the House unanimously and now moves on to the Senate for further consideration. Feel free to contact me in regards to this legislation or with any other questions you may have.
