Note to the Press: State Rep. Becky Cash (R-Zionsville) issued the following statement following today's announcement from the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration on the results of the HCBS Attendant Care Audits.
"Since taking office in 2023, I have met frequently with the Indiana Office of Medicaid Fraud, Waste and Abuse, as well as state and federal fraud agencies operating outside the Statehouse in accordance with federal law. I have also engaged with attorneys from the Attorney General’s Office and held ongoing conversations with FSSA and the Governor’s Office regarding my concerns about protecting vulnerable populations and addressing the impact of fraud, waste and abuse on access to care.
"I've worked on legislation to strengthen Medicaid audit requirements and have collaborated with my colleagues to ensure appropriate oversight and accountability from our state agencies. I commend FSSA for conducting this audit and for its continued efforts in this area.
"At the same time, I urge FSSA to ensure that the care our most vulnerable Hoosiers depend on is not disrupted due to the actions of these businesses, and to pursue every available avenue to recover improperly distributed funds. These audits are the result of sustained efforts by members of the General Assembly working alongside FSSA to prioritize transparency and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars." – State Rep. Becky Cash (R-Zionsville)
Note to the Press – State Rep. Martin Carbaugh (R-Fort Wayne) issued the following statement in response to a new review indicating hospitals are complying with Indiana's 2025 nonprofit hospital pricing law (HEA 1004) which Carbaugh authored to help reduce health care costs for Hoosiers.
STATEHOUSE (April 23, 2026) – "I'm encouraged to see large nonprofit hospitals complying with this part of the law and offering more affordable, direct-to-employer health care options for Hoosier businesses. While this is a strong first step and will help employers that agree to limit their health plan to a single health care system, it represents only one part of what HEA 1004 does to hold hospitals accountable for lower and more transparent pricing, prioritize patients and reduce health care costs. For Hoosiers with employer plans that are not part of a direct-to-employer arrangement, as well as those who are individually insured through the marketplace, there is more work to be done. I appreciate the progress made on this provision of HEA 1004, which shows we are beginning to move in the right direction toward a more affordable health care system for all Hoosiers."
