The 2019 legislative session of the Indiana General Assembly finally adjourned. Lawmakers were even able to end a week ahead of schedule, saving taxpayers money! Throughout my first legislative session, I authored or sponsored five laws, the most of any first-term legislator.
STATEHOUSE (May 9, 2019) – State Rep. Sean Eberhart (R-Shelbyville) recently welcomed local student pages to the Statehouse.
STATEHOUSE (May 9, 2019) – Hoosier mothers will soon have access to better care before, during and after birth thanks to a new law authored by State Rep. Cindy Kirchhofer (R-Beech Grove).
STATEHOUSE (May 8, 2019) — Gov. Eric Holcomb recently signed into law legislation authored by State Rep. Tom Saunders (R-Lewisville) helping to ensure absentee ballots are counted on time.
STATEHOUSE (May 8, 2019) — Gov. Eric Holcomb recently signed into law State Rep. Bob Cherry’s (R-Greenfield) legislation providing tax relief to many Hoosier veterans.
During the 2019 legislative session, one of the General Assembly’s biggest priorities was to pass an honestly balanced budget funding state operations for the next two years. By working diligently, lawmakers finished ahead of schedule and under budget while accomplishing our top goals. The new budget includes a record investment in K-12 public education while maintaining the state’s healthy reserves.
The legislative session began with a promise to students, teachers and schools that they would have the necessary tools and resources to drive student success. As our official business concluded at the end of April, it was clear education remained a top priority for lawmakers. With record investments in K-12 funding and innovative programs to help elevate the teaching profession, our schools can continue educating young Hoosiers.
STATEHOUSE (May 3, 2019) — Legislation co-authored by State Rep. Christy Stutzman (R-Middlebury) prohibiting the practice of dismemberment abortions in Indiana was recently signed into law.
STATEHOUSE (May 3, 2019) – State Rep. Denny Zent (R-Angola) recently welcomed student pages to the Statehouse.
STATEHOUSE (May 2, 2019) – State Rep. Holli Sullivan (R-Evansville) will serve as vice chair of the Council of State Governments’ Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development.
STATEHOUSE (May 2, 2019) – State Rep. Ron Bacon (R-Chandler) will host a legislative update meeting in Chandler on Thursday, May 9.
STATEHOUSE (May 2, 2019) – State Rep. Dale DeVon (R-Granger) recently welcomed student pages to the Statehouse.
The 2019 legislative session has come to a close, with many proposals already signed into law by the governor. Lawmakers worked hard this session, putting Hoosiers first and passing sound policies moving Indiana forward. I tackled important issues to protect local property owners, support retired public employees and engage students in civics education.
STATEHOUSE (April 26, 2019) – State Rep. David Abbott (R-Rome City) recently welcomed student pages to the Statehouse.
