The Indiana Economic Development Corporation recently announced more than 27,000 new jobs with average wages of $28.60/hour are coming to our state. For some young Hoosiers, obtaining one of these positions may seem out of reach as they compete with other candidates with resumes filled with internships and apprenticeships. House Republicans want to remove a barrier that prevents some Hoosier students from low-income families from taking advantage of paid internships.

We had a great discussion on a wide range of issues in Logansport last week. Thanks to the Logansport-Cass County Chamber of Commerce for hosting legislators for the Third House Session! One of the biggest topics we discussed was education. We have passed several bills this session that are high priorities for House Republicans and the education community, including holding teachers harmless from low ILEARN test scores and decoupling teacher evaluations from test scores.
