STATEHOUSE— House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced standing committee assignments today for the 119th General Assembly. Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election.

State Rep. Jim Baird (R-Green Castle) will serve on the Ways and Means Committee, responsible for crafting the state’s budget, the Statutory Committee on Interstate and International Cooperation and the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee.

“I will work thoroughly to make sure our state’s funds are dispersed appropriately and responsibly,” said Rep. Baird. “We must adhere to our principle of fiscal integrity building a solid foundation of economic growth so that Hoosier families may prosper.”

Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.

“It is privilege to serve on these committees, and I will work diligently to best represent my community at the Statehouse,” said Rep. Baird.
