Education: Graduated from Purdue University

State Representative Tom Dermody and his wife Jackie live in LaPorte with their two children, Katie and Ben. Elected to the state legislature in 2006 to represent the citizens of House District 20, Rep. Dermody owns and manages a small business.

Tom is chairman of the Public Policy Committee and sits on the Statutory Committee on Interstate and International Cooperation. He is also a member of the Commerce, Small Business and Economic Development Committee where he has worked to promote economic development initiatives for Hoosiers.

Locally, Tom serves as a board member for the LaPorte Salvation Army and has also served as a board member for the LaPorte YMCA. In addition, he was the past President and Vice President and former member of the LaPorte Community School Corporation. Tom has volunteered as a youth athletics coach for several years in LaPorte and has also spent time mentoring at a local elementary school. 

House District 20 is comprised of large portions of Starke and LaPorte counties in northwestern Indiana.
