Welcome to my website. Thank you taking the time to visit my page, and I hope you find the information and links useful.

It is an honor to serve and represent the people of House District 46 in the General Assembly. Although I believe Indiana is the best state to live and raise a family, there is always room for improvement and more work to be done.

Uncommon to most states, Indiana passed a budget in 2013 that increased funding to vital services like education, transportation infrastructure, workforce training and public safety, all while providing the largest tax cut package in state history. As the government provides valuable services for Hoosiers, it must be done within the confines of fiscal prudence and good governance.

With the vast amount of issues affecting our community and state, I want to hear from you. I encourage you to email, call or write me with your comments, concerns or suggestions so that we can work to improve our state together. I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Bob Heaton

State Representative Bob Heaton was born in 1956 in Brazil, Indiana. Rep. Heaton grew up on a classic rural Hoosier farm that has been in the Heaton family for over 120 years. There he grew up with his mother, father, two brothers and one sister.

His father, Forrest, was an employee of Public Service Company of Indiana (now Cinergy) for over 30 years and was also a part-time farmer. Rep. Heaton’s mother, Betty, was a homemaker. As a child he attended Cory Elementary School and then attended Clay City High School where he was a star basketball player for the Clay City Eels.

After high school, Rep. Heaton attended the University of Denver on a full athletic scholarship (basketball), and studied business. After two years at the University of Denver, Rep. Heaton returned to the Hoosier state and transferred to Indiana State University and played for the Sycamores.

Rep. Heaton played for the Sycamores from 1978 to 1980. Rep. Heaton also played alongside Larry Bird in ISU’s infamous ’78/’79 season where they went to their only NCAA Division 1 Championship.

He graduated from Indiana State University with a B.S in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing. He immediately was recruited by Northwestern Mutual (in Terre Haute) right out of college and was a financial representative.

After his tenure with Northwestern Mutual, Rep. Heaton was hired by the Forrest-Sherer Agency.

Since 2003, he has been president of his own financial service venture, Heaton Financial Services in Terre Haute.

Rep. Heaton has been married to his wife, Jane Ann, for 34 years. They have two children and three grandchildren, all living in the Wabash Valley. Rep. Heaton and his wife attend Union Christian Church in Terre Haute.
